Biography

Dr. Haris Asif has joined Tulane’s Section of General Internal Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Hospitalist. He earned his medical degree from Baqai Medical University in Karachi, Pakistan, on a full academic scholarship, after completing high school in Afghanistan. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center in Brooklyn, NY, where he developed a strong interest in hospital medicine while caring for a diverse and complex patient population. Dr. Asif then served as a hospitalist at West Virginia University’s Ruby Memorial Hospital for two years, gaining experience in inpatient care and multidisciplinary collaboration. After his wife matched at Tulane University School of Medicine for residency, he was drawn to the opportunity to join Tulane and contribute to the healthcare needs of New Orleans and the greater Louisiana community. He is passionate about providing high-quality care to underserved populations and has particular interests in inpatient medicine, care transitions, and team-based care. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his family and exploring the local culture and cuisine.
