Emily Rose Showalter

Emily Showalter brings a unique background in both clinical care and academic administration. Before joining Tulane School of Medicine, she spent more than a decade in Emergency Veterinary Medicine as an ICU/Critical Care Veterinary Technician at a local specialty and emergency hospital, developing expertise in high-pressure operations, critical thinking, and compassionate care.

She later transitioned into higher education administration, serving as Sr. Program Coordinator for the Division of Biomedical Informatics & Genomics, where she supported faculty initiatives, program operations, and strategic departmental projects.

Emily is now serving as Executive Assistant to Dr. Victor J. Thannickal, Chair of the John W. Deming Department of Medicine, and looks forward to supporting the department’s leadership, faculty, and mission.
