Dr. Ronald A. Slipman is a board-certified Family Medicine physician and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP).  He is deeply invested in both furthering medical education and providing comprehensive, holistic primary care.  As the course director of the Foundations in Medicine (FIM) course, he leads medical students in their longitudinal clinical education during the first and second years of medical school at Tulane University.  He additionally contributes to the third year Family Medicine Clerkship curriculum and serves as faculty liaison to Tulane’s rural Family Medicine preceptors located throughout Louisiana and across the country.  He is involved with leading fourth year medical student electives and also serves as the faculty sponsor for Tulane’s Student-Run Clinic at Bridge House, one of the University’s oldest and most active clinics that provide free medical care to the underserved in New Orleans.  He additionally serves as the faculty sponsor for Tulane’s chapter of the Arnold P. Gold Humanism in Medicine Honor Society.

 

Dr. Slipman’s clinical practice is located at the Tulane Living Well Primary Care-Hutchinson Clinic in downtown New Orleans, where he has been one of the original physicians since the clinic’s founding.  He additionally practices at the LCMC Lakeside Primary Care/Multispecialty Clinic in Metairie, where he provides medical care to the greater New Orleans community.  His primary clinical interests are in preventive medicine, chronic disease management, STI and HIV prevention including pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), and men’s health.

 

Dr. Slipman received his undergraduate degrees in Biology and French from Washington University in St. Louis.  He received his medical degree from the Tulane University School of Medicine, where he was elected to the Arnold P. Gold Humanism in Medicine Honor Society.  He completed his residency in Family Medicine at East Jefferson General Hospital, and he subsequently joined the faculty at Tulane University School of Medicine.  He is also active in the Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians (LAFP) and the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) in various roles.
