Biography

Dr. Cristina Sanina joined the Section of Cardiology as the Director of Structural Heart Disease Interventions-University Medical Center-New Orleans Division, Director of Interventional & Structural Heart Disease Research and as Associate Director of the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program.  She received an MD degree at the Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Moldova and a Cardiology residency at A.N. Bakulev Center for Cardiovascular Surgery of the Russian Ministry of Health in Moscow, Russia.  She then completed a post-doctoral degree in Molecular Biology concentrating in mesenchymal stem cell research for cardiac regeneration at the University of Miami-Miller School of Medicine. She further completed a residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine-Montefiore Medical Center.  She then completed an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Harvard Medical School, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.  She came to Tulane after completing an Advanced Structural Heart Disease Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Washington School of Medicine.  Dr. Sanina is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology.  She is the author of numerous articles published in elite peer-reviewed journals.  She is also the author of eleven book chapters and two textbooks.
