Biography
Dr. Abigail Byrne is a native of Washington, DC. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Cellular Neuroscience at Colgate University in Hamilton, NY. She then did health policy research in orthopedics at Brigham and Women’s Hospital before earning a Master of Science in Physiology. She moved to New Orleans to attend medical school at Tulane University, where she met her husband, a St. Bernard Parish native. She remained at Tulane for residency in Internal Medicine and graduated with distinction in Program Administration and Leadership in Clinical Education. She is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Section of General Internal Medicine, serves as an academic hospitalist at Tulane Medical Center and University Medical Center of New Orleans. She also serves as the Director of Student Programs for the Department of Medicine, including directing the Core Internal Medicine Clerkship. She has served the Tulane Internal Medicine Residency through co-leading board preparation and review, and now enjoys working with the residents on the wards. She has special interest in healthcare provider wellness, and medical education.
