Biography
Keith received his B.A. In English/Biology in 1986 from the University of Mississippi. He completed his associates in nursing from Des Moines Area community college in Ankeny, Iowa in 1996. He completed his BSN in nursing from The University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi in 1999. He worked in Icu as a staff and charge nurse for several years. Then he returned to school to study Psychiatric advanced practice nursing at the University of Southern Mississippi where he was trained in individual, family, and group therapy. He obtained his MSN from Mississippi University for Women in 2007 with a dual emphasis of Family and Pediatrics. His thesis was on mental health in children.
After graduation, he worked in primary care and emergency medicine. In 2010 he joined Tulane University School of Medicine ,Department of Medicine, Section of Nephrology as a staff nurse practitioner In 2014, he accepted a faculty position with Tulane University School of Medicine, Department of Medicine, Section of Hematology/Oncology as an Instructor of Clinical Medicine and Nurse practitioner working with Dr. Hana Safah, MD, Dr. Roy Weiner, MD, and Nakle Saba, MD.
Keith is the stem cell transplant educator and follows the patients thru the stem cell transplant process. He also collaborates with Dr. Safah and Dr. Saba in the care of Hem/Onc patients with various types of leukemia and lymphoma. Keith is involved in research at Tulane as a sub investigator on several clinical trials. He was also instrumental in petitioning the board of nursing to allow nurse practitioners to do bone marrow aspirations/biopsy.
