Biography

Dr. Gomez Siegert is a Neurologist and Stroke Specialist. She was born in Caracas, Venezuela. She completed her medical school training in one of the most prestigious Medical Schools in the country, and served the community in her native city of Caracas for 7 years as a general practitioner in several specialties and settings, including dialysis/nephrology, endocrinology, hospital medicine and emergency department. Dr. Gomez Siegert then arrived in the United States to pursue her post-graduate training and completed her Neurology Residency at Tulane University in New Orleans. She served as Chief Resident in her last year of training, won the “Outstanding Humanitarian and Patient Advocate Award” and “The Golden Plunger Award – for the fastest tPA door-to-needle time” at the end of her Neurology training. Dr. Gomez Siegert then trained as a Vascular Neurologist at Tulane University Medical Center, a comprehensive stroke center that cared for the highest complexity stroke patients from Southeastern Louisiana and Mississippi. She is also passionate about education and won an award for “Best Neurology Resident” provided by the Tulane University School of Medicine to Residents and Fellows that demonstrate excellence in teaching.

After completing her training, Dr. Gomez Siegert joined as a Neurologist in Private Practice at Neurocare of The South in the North Shore for 3 years in both outpatient and inpatient settings. She had affiliations to Slidell Memorial Main and East Hospitals where she practiced as a neurohospitalist, and provided care for general and vascular neurology patients in clinic at her Covington Location.

Dr. Gomez Siegert is Board Certified in Neurology and Vascular Neurology. She is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Heart Association. She is now joining Tulane as an Assistant Professor of Neurology where she will also practice as a Vascular Neurologist at University Medical Center New Orleans and East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie.
