Timothy E. Gressett, M.D., PhD

About: Timothy was drawn to combined training for its unique opportunity to address complex, co-morbid conditions that apply to both the brain and the body.  Originally from the northeast, he served as an officer in the U.S. Navy before deciding to pursue medicine as a career.  Outside of medicine, he enjoys family time with his wife and young son, cooking, and practicing meditation.  He is also an avid reader and enjoys writing poetry and short stories.

Why I love Tulane/New Orleans: New Orleans is a very special place because of its rich culture, excellent food, and wonderful music.  My connection to Tulane actually began as an undergraduate during Hurricane Katrina, and after my military service was complete, it was easy for me to return to New Orleans for medical school and to stay on for residency.

Professional Interests: Timothy has a special interest in integrative care models and the therapeutic use of psychedelic medicine in treating those with trauma and substance use disorders.  His additional interests include academic medicine, physician well-being, and translational research in neuroscience and psychiatry.
