Biography

Sarah S. Bose is the Laboratory Manager at the Tulane Center for Airborne Infection and Transmission Science (TUCAiTS). She oversees research operations within BSL-2, BSL-3, and ABSL-3 laboratories, including work with DOJ Tier 1 Select Agents. Her role includes managing regulatory compliance for IACUC, TRAC, and IBC protocols, coordinating laboratory resources, and developing and implementing standard operating procedures to ensure biosafety and quality assurance.

Sarah has extensive experience in microbiology, virology, and molecular biology. Before her current role, she served as a Medical Research Specialist and Technician at the Tulane National Primate Research Center, where she conducted whole blood processing, RNA/DNA extractions, immunological assays (ELISAs, ELISpots, PRNTs), and infectious agent sample preparation. She also gained industry experience as a Quality Assurance Technician at Abita Brewing Company, where she performed microbial and chemical analyses and ensured GMP and HACCP compliance.

Her research contributions include co-authorship on peer-reviewed publications, such as a 2024 NPJ Vaccines article on MVA-based vaccines against eastern equine encephalitis virus in cynomolgus macaques.

Sarah holds a Bachelor of Science in Animal, Dairy, and Poultry Sciences from Louisiana State University and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) in Biostatistics at Tulane University. She is certified for BSL-3/ABSL-3 work, trained in the shipping of infectious substances, and holds U.S. Department of Justice clearance for Tier-1 Select Agents.

Her expertise spans laboratory management, biosafety, and advanced biostatistical methods, with a strong commitment to supporting infectious disease research that informs global public health.
