Biography
Dr. Diana Espinoza Barrera is a physician specialized in interventional pulmonology. She earned her medical degree from the Universidad Estatal de Cuenca in Ecuador. Following this, she completed her Internal Medicine residency at MacNeal Hospital and her Pulmonary and Critical Care fellowship at Tulane University. She then pursued an Interventional Pulmonary fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Massachusetts General Hospital, affiliated with Harvard Medical School. Currently, Dr. Espinoza Barrera is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Tulane University, where she focuses her clinical practice and teaching on interventional pulmonary procedures. Her clinical work and research centers on a range of complex respiratory conditions, including lung cancer, pleural effusions, the diagnosis of peripheral lung nodules, and the management of malignant and benign central airway obstructions.
Dr. Espinoza Barrera is actively involved in professional organizations. She is currently a Fellow-in-Training for the CHEST Lung Cancer Section and an active member of the AABIP Diversity, Inclusion, and Unity Committee, demonstrating a commitment to diversity and inclusivity within the medical profession. Her dedication has earned her recognition through the ATS Underrepresented Trainee Development Scholarship and CHEST travel grants. She is an active member of CHEST, ATS, and AABIP and board-certified in Internal Medicine, board-eligible for; Pulmonary Disease, Critical Care, and Interventional Pulmonary.
