Biography
Dr. Taylor Wearda is an instructor of surgery in the Division of Trauma and Critical Care at Tulane University School of Medicine. Originally from San Luis Obispo, California, he completed his General Surgery residency at Tulane after earning his medical degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine and his undergraduate degree in cellular and molecular biology from Humboldt State University.
During his training, Dr. Wearda was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha and the Gold Humanism Honor Society and was recognized as the Dr. Norman McSwain Trauma Resident of the Year. His clinical interests include hernia repair, abdominal wall reconstruction, and foregut surgery. In August 2026, he will begin a minimally invasive surgery fellowship in Palo Alto, California.
