Content Types

The Tulane School of Medicine uses a few different content types from Tulane's other sites to meet our specific needs. Content types are essentially templates that structure and display information in various ways on a webpage.

The most commonly used content type within the School of Medicine is the Universal Page, which is ideal for building standard informational pages.

For details on other available content types not listed here—and how to use them—please refer to the Tulane's Communications Drupal Guide.

Clinical Trials

The Clinical Trials content type is specifically designed for promoting new or ongoing clinical trials. Any department wishing to feature clinical trials on the website must use this content type to ensure the trial is included in the School of Medicine’s searchable Clinical Trials Directory. Content editors on the site can create and publish these Clinical Trials.

Tulane News

The Tulane News content type standardizes how news is displayed across the School of Medicine website, replacing inconsistent department-level news and events pages. Departments are required to use this content type and assign their department as the category. This ensures that all news content is accessible site-wide while also allowing for the creation of department-specific News Listing pages (e.g., Deming News).

To request a News Listing page for your department, please submit a request to the web designer using this form: https://wkf.ms/4gcl4Pa.

Tulane People

The Tulane People content type is used to create profile pages for faculty and staff members. These pages are flexible and can include a headshot, contact information, office location, biographical and educational details, and more.

Tulane People entries also power the automatically generated Faculty and Staff listing pages across the site—such as this example from the BMS Grad Program. To maintain consistency, departments should not manually create staff pages. Instead, all faculty and staff/admin members must be added using the Tulane People content type, with the correct Affiliation and Department selected.
