Tulane clinics’ telemedicine program offers new access to providers WGNO story featuring Dr. Michael O'Brien

To help provide safe and easy access to doctors, telehealth options are now available for many Tulane Health System clinics and providers. Patients can have a real-time visit with providers on their existing mobile device. Read what Dr. Michael O'Brien had to say about the new system here.

Dr. Fernando Sanchez Awarded the Title of the Bette and Jack Kenneth Wickstrom Professor of Orthopaedics

On May 22, 2018, Tulane Orthopaedic faculty, residents, and friends gathered to congratulate our Total Joints orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Fernando Sanchez as he was awarded the title of the Bette and Jack Kenneth Wickstrom Professor of Orthopaedics. Dr. Sanchez is very dedication to our othopaedic department, and is a fantastic physician towards all of his patients.  Dr. Wickstroms children, Cindi Wickstrom Wright, Charles Wickstrom, and Merrilee Wickstrom Kullman, gathered to award Dr. Sanchez with the title.  Congratulations, Dr. Sanchez, on such a huge honor!

Dr. Michael O'Brien helps a local musician recover from a motorcycle accident

Ricky Sebastian started playing the drums when he was 8 years old. Now with decades of experience, Ricky is a renowned, premier drummer who lives, works, teaches and plays in New Orleans.

Thanks to a motorcycle accident – and overuse from his lifelong drumming career – Ricky’s right shoulder was injured and painful.  You can read the whole story on Dr. Michael O'Brien treating Mr. Sebastian by click here.

Tulane Resident Graduation and Haddad Lectureship

On June 2nd, the Department of Orthopaedics gathered at Tulane University School of Medicine to celebrate the graduating residents, Drs. Former pro athletes get all-star treatment at new sports medicine clinic

Professional Athlete Care Team grand opening

The Tulane Institute of Sports Medicine has created the new Professional Athlete Care Team (PACT) within the Tulane Medical Center designed to meet the needs of former professional athletes. PACT was developed through a partnership between the Tulane University School of Medicine and Tulane Health System to support athletes’ health and safety both on and off the field, said Dr. Greg Stewart, Tulane’s chief of physical medicine and rehabilitation and the PACT medical director.

Tulane Institute of Sports Medicine and Dr. Gregory Stewart featured on WWL News

Dr. Greg Stewart is a co-director of the Sports Medicine Program at Tulane University. He said spinal injuries in football are debilitating, but not common. “You don’t see it very often,” Stewart said. “It’s not as common as you would expect.”
