Adult Clinic

nurse with patientThe adult sickle cell clinic provides comprehensive care to adults with sickle cell disease. This includes a comprehensive medial exam, laboratory evaluations, psycho-social evaluation and support, and focused education and teaching. Visits are scheduled every 3 to 6 months. The clinic will focus on explaining sickle cell disease and its complications. We focus on recognizing and avoiding future medical problems. Additionally, we provide education about new medical research and treatments in the filed. The attending hematologist is Dr. Leissinger along with Amy Kinzie, our nurse practitioner. Dr. Leissinger is one of the few adult hematologist in the states, and sees patients from all over Louisiana.
