Pediatric Neurosurgery Program
In conjunction with the multidisciplinary team of Tulane Hospital for Children we provide evaluation and treatment for the entire spectrum of pediatric neurosurgical conditions including:
- Brain (the most common solid tumor in children) and spinal tumors
- Craniofacial disorders (including craniosynostosis)
- Hydrocephalus
- Vascular malformations (including Vein of Galen malformations, arteriovenous malformations, aneurysms and cavernomas)
- Seizures
- Chiari malformations
- Spina bifida, including fetal surgery for spina bifida
- Spinal instability
Our surgeons have specialized fellowship training with extensive expertise in all of these areas and provide a myriad of treatment options such as craniotomy and microsurgical resection, intraoperative navigation, endoscopy, minimally invasive cranial procedures, stereotactic radiosurgery, endovascular therapies, cranial vault remodeling and spinal fusions.
We strongly believe in the team approach and work concurrently with other staff and departments including general pediatrics, pediatric oncology, neurology, critical care, pain specialists and obstetrics. In addition to ensuring that the family is well informed of all the treatment options, Child life specialists will work to help the children understand their condition and treatments as well.
